Nkhuni Farm is a growing commercial poultry operation focused on egg production for the Zambian market. We are seeking a highly experienced and disciplined Poultry Manager (Layers) to take full responsibility for managing and optimizing our layer operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily layer operations including feeding, production, and bird welfare
- Drive egg production efficiency, quality, and consistency
- Monitor and manage key performance indicators (mortality, feed intake, laying rate)
- Enforce strict biosecurity and vaccination programs
- Supervise and manage farm staff with discipline and accountability
- Control feed usage, reduce wastage, and manage stock levels
- Maintain accurate production records and reporting systems
- Ensure all farm systems, procedures, and standards are consistently followed
Requirements
Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in commercial layer farm management
Proven experience managing large-scale layer operations (high bird capacity)
Strong leadership and team management skills
Deep understanding of layer performance, nutrition, and health management
Experience working in structured, performance-driven environments
Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
Strong reporting, planning, and organizational skills
Must be willing and able to reside on-site at a remote, off-grid farm location
Comfortable staying on the farm for extended periods with limited access to urban amenities
Able to work in a hands-on, demanding environment with long hours when required
