Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, direct and coordinate professional electrical designs to meet client-specific requirements
Align designs with business strategy, industry best practices, safety regulations and cost management objectives
Prepare scope of work, specifications, bill of quantities and tender documents
Compile detailed data packs to support manufacturing and software engineering phases of projects
MCC design in accordance with IEC61439 — including heat rise calculations, equipment selection and layout design
Lighting and small power design, substation design, cable racking design and cable sizing
Transformer sizing and equipment selection
Liaise directly with clients on design specifications and requirements
Ensure continuous design improvements for optimal and cost-effective implementation
Mentor and coach CAD operators and engineers in training

Experience and Qualifications

Degree, Technical Diploma or NQF equivalent in Electrical Engineering
Pr Eng registration is advantageous but not required
Extensive operational and design experience including relevant design software
Solid knowledge of international electrical and instrumentation specifications and standards, SANS standards, MHS Act and OHS Act
Knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems
Industrial plant design experience
Mining industry design experience is essential
