Job Details

1. Job Summary

The Technical Storekeeper is the "gatekeeper" of physical assets. This role goes beyond basic receiving and issuing; it requires technical knowledge to identify specific parts, materials, and equipment (Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic). The Storekeeper ensures that all materials are received correctly, stored per manufacturer specifications, picked accurately, and dispatched on time while maintaining rigid documentation and 5S standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

Receiving & Inspection (25%)

  • Goods Inward: Physically receive deliveries; cross-check quantities, part numbers, and serial numbers against Purchase Orders (POs) and Delivery Notes.
  • Technical Verification: Perform visual inspections for damage, rust, or defects. For critical technical items (e.g., bearings, motors, sensors), confirm specifications (voltage, size, tolerance) align with engineering drawings.
  • Documentation: Raise Goods Receipt Notes (GRN) and report discrepancies to Procurement immediately.

Storage & Preservation (25%)

  • Systematic Storage: Allocate bin locations, label items, and maintain strict FIFO (First-In-First-Out) and FEFO (First-Expiry-First-Out) systems for chemicals/adhesives.
  • Conditioning: Monitor environmental conditions (Temperature/Humidity) for sensitive materials (e.g., electronics, rubber seals). Ensure proper preservation (oiling/covering) for spare parts.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain "5S" workplace organization (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) in assigned zones.

Issuing & Kitting (25%)

  • Dispatch: Issue materials to production or maintenance technicians against authorized Material Requisition Forms (MRFs) or Work Orders.
  • Kitting: Pre-assemble "kits" of materials required for specific maintenance jobs or production batches to improve technician efficiency.
  • Return Processing: Handle returns of unused materials; inspect for damage and restock into the correct location.

Record Keeping & Systems (25%)

  • Data Entry: Immediately update the WMS/ERP system for every transaction (Receipts, Issues, Transfers, and Returns) to ensure real-time accuracy.
  • Cycle Counting: Execute daily cycle counts as directed by the Inventory Manager; investigate and reconcile minor discrepancies.
  • Safety Compliance: Wear mandatory PPE (Steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves); ensure no flammable materials are stored incorrectly.

3. Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Diploma / Higher Secondary (12th Pass) with ITI certification in Fitter, Electrician, or Mechanical trade OR a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Logistics. (Note: A technical trade certificate is highly preferred over a general degree).

Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a store/warehouse environment, specifically handling engineering spares, electrical components, or manufacturing raw materials.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read technical specifications, datasheets, and part catalogs.
  • Proficient in using Barcode Scanners and basic Computer skills (MS Excel/Word).
  • Forklift / Reach Truck certification is a strong advantage.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 kg frequently.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and climb ladders for extended periods.
  • Good vision (with or without correction) for part-number identification.
