Sybase Database Administrator (DBA 02 - IT Operations)

We are seeking a highly skilled Sybase Database Administrator to join our IT Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our Sybase environments across mission-critical systems. You will work closely with application teams, infrastructure engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable database services that support enterprise operations.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration & Operations

• Manage,maintain, and optimise Sybase ASE and Replication Server environments.
• Performdatabase installations, upgrades, patches, and migrations.
• Monitorsystem performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement tuning strategies.
• Ensurehigh availability, disaster recovery readiness, and failover testing.

• Provide2nd and 3rd line support for Sybase-related incidents and servicerequests.
• Analyseand resolve database performance bottlenecks, replication issues, andconnectivity failures.
• Participatein on-call rotations to support critical systems.

• Maintaindatabase security, user administration, roles, and permissions.
• Ensurecompliance with internal standards, audit requirements, and datagovernance policies.

• Developscripts for automation (SQL, shell scripting) to streamline operationaltasks.
• Maintainaccurate documentation, operational procedures, and architecture diagrams.

• 3-5+years experience as a Sybase DBA (ASE, Replication Server, IQadvantageous).
• Strongknowledge of Sybase architecture, performance tuning, and databaseoptimisation.
• Solidexperience managing high-availability and replication environments.
• StrongSQL scripting and familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
• Experiencein backup/restore strategies, disaster recovery, and monitoring tools.
• Abilityto work under pressure in complex enterprise environments.

• Experiencewith other DBMS technologies (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• Knowledgeof batch processing environments and financial/telecom systems.
• Understandingof automation tools and DevOps concepts.
