Description:
The role requires a combination of strong sales ability and technical insurance expertise
. The broker will be expected to independently manage both commercial and personal lines, while ensuring that all administration, compliance, claims, renewals, and client servicing are handled accurately and professionally.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ short-term insurance experience, preferably within an independent brokerage.
  • Proven sales and new business development track record.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and personal lines, including underwriting, claims, and policy administration.
  • Experience working with multiple insurers and underwriting managers.
  • RE5 completed and current.
  • Recognised Short-Term Insurance qualification at NQF Level 4 or higher.
  • FAIS Fit and Proper compliant, including relevant Class of Business training and up-to-date CPD.
  • Able to work independently without supervision across personal and commercial lines.
  • DOFA confirming required industry experience.
  • Clean regulatory and credit record.
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
  • Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities: 
  • New Business Development: Prospect for and acquire new personal and commercial clients, build a sales pipeline, generate referrals, and meet growth targets.
  • Book Ownership: Manage an allocated portfolio of TTT clients and all new business, acting as the primary point of contact.
  • Underwriting & Risk Assessment: Assess risks, obtain and compare quotes, negotiate terms, and structure suitable cover.
  • Commercial Lines: Manage risks including property, business interruption, motor fleets, liability, SASRIA, goods in transit, and engineering.
  • Personal Lines: Manage household, buildings, motor, portable possessions, personal liability, and high-value risks.
  • Policy Administration: Process endorsements, adjustments, cancellations, premium queries, and maintain accurate client and policy records.
  • Claims Management: Manage claims from registration to settlement and liaise with insurers, assessors, and clients.
  • Renewals & Retention: Manage renewals, review cover, remarket where necessary, and retain clients through proactive service.
  • Client Relationships: Provide compliant advice, identify cross-selling opportunities, and build long-term client relationships.
  • Compliance: Maintain FAIS-compliant files, accurate CRM records, records of advice, and required disclosures.
  • Reporting: Monitor and report on new business, pipeline activity, claims, renewals, and book growth.
