Senior Fire Engineer

Job Description:

• Lead the design and delivery of fire engineering solutions for multidisciplinary building projects
• Prepare rational fire designs, including smoke control, sprinkler systems, and stair pressurisation strategies
• Manage projects from concept through to construction, ensuring quality and compliance throughout
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders
• Review technical documentation, tender packages, and project deliverables
• Conduct site inspections and provide construction support where required
• Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and technical staff

 
Skills & Experience:

• 10+ years' experience in Fire Engineering within a consulting engineering environment
• Extensive knowledge of SANS fire regulations and performance-based fire engineering design
• Proven experience designing sprinkler systems, smoke extraction, and fire protection solutions
• Experience delivering commercial, industrial, healthcare, residential, or mixed-use developments
• Strong leadership, project management, and client engagement skills
• Excellent technical reporting, problem-solving, and communication abilities

 
Qualification:

• BEng / BTech in Mechanical Engineering
• ECSA Registration (PrEng / PrTechEng) essential
