Background

A reputable company operating in the Heavy Equipment, Mining, Construction & Engineering industry is looking for an experienced and proactive Safety Officer to join its team.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures and safety standards.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, hazard identification and risk assessments.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions and employee safety training.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor PPE compliance and safe working practices.
  • Maintain HSE records, reports and inspection documentation.
  • Support emergency preparedness, drills and safety audits.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Management or a related field.
  • 3 years’ relevant experience, preferably in mining, construction, heavy equipment, engineering or another high-risk environment.
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment, incident investigation and workplace safety procedures.
  • First Aid and Fire Safety certification is an advantage.
  • Strong communication, reporting, leadership and problem-solving skills.
