The Quality Nurse is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of healthcare quality, patient safety, and performance management programs across the organization. The role involves quality monitoring, clinical audits, performance measurement, accreditation support, incident management, staff education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to promote safe, effective, patient-centered, and evidence-based healthcare services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clinical Duties:
    • Monitor and evaluate the quality and safety of patient care services across clinical departments and healthcare programs.
    • Conduct clinical audits, patient record reviews, and compliance assessments to evaluate adherence to established standards, policies, and evidence-based practices.
    • Participate in the investigation of patient safety incidents, adverse events, near misses, complaints, and clinical risks.
    • Support root cause analyses (RCA), corrective action plans, and performance improvement initiatives.
    • Monitor quality indicators, patient safety metrics, infection control indicators, and clinical performance outcomes.
    • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to identify opportunities for improving patient care processes and outcomes.
    • Participate in risk management activities aimed at reducing patient harm and enhancing quality of care.
    • Support implementation of patient safety goals, clinical practice guidelines, and healthcare quality standards throughout the organization.
    • Assist departments in developing and monitoring quality improvement projects and performance enhancement initiatives.
    • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous learning, and patient-centered care.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Assist in the development, implementation, review, and monitoring of quality management and patient safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Collect, analyze, interpret, and report quality performance data, trends, and outcomes to leadership and relevant committees.
    • Coordinate quality improvement activities, accreditation preparations, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
    • Maintain accurate records of audits, quality assessments, incident reports, corrective actions, and performance indicators.
    • Participate in organizational committees related to quality, patient safety, risk management, infection prevention, and accreditation.
    • Monitor compliance with hospital policies, national regulations, accreditation standards, and clinical governance requirements.
    • Support document control processes, including policy management, standard operating procedures, and quality records.
    • Facilitate patient satisfaction surveys, service evaluations, and quality monitoring activities.
    • Assist in preparing reports and presentations for management review meetings, accreditation surveys, and regulatory inspections.
  • Educational Duties:
    • Provide training and education to healthcare personnel on quality improvement methodologies, patient safety principles, clinical governance, and accreditation standards.
    • Conduct orientation sessions for newly hired employees regarding quality management systems and patient safety practices.
    • Promote awareness of quality indicators, incident reporting systems, risk management processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Provide guidance and support to departments in implementing quality improvement projects and corrective action plans.
    • Participate in competency assessments, educational workshops, and professional development activities.
    • Stay updated with current healthcare quality standards, accreditation requirements, patient safety practices, and regulatory guidelines.
