Job Details

Responsibilities:

Substrate Preparation & Formulation:

  • Operate production equipment, including hammer mills, blenders, and filling machines for substrate preparation and dispensing.
  • Measure and mix organic substrates to maintain required moisture levels and nutrient composition.
  • Monitor substrate fermentation processes and ensure materials are free from contaminants.
  • Coordinate the consistent availability of organic waste/by-products to prevent production downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of substrate formulations, processing timelines, and material usage.



Larvae Processing & Product Handling:

  • Operate vibratory sieves and other processing equipment for larvae harvesting and frass separation.
  • Manage industrial dryers and milling machines for finished product processing.
  • Ensure finished products meet required quality specifications, including moisture content, texture, and color.
  • Supervise product packaging and storage processes.


Equipment Maintenance & Safety Compliance:

  • Conduct routine first-line maintenance on all processing equipment.
  • Identify and troubleshoot operational issues to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards and PPE usage.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile production environment to prevent contamination.
  • Keep detailed maintenance and equipment performance records.


Production Leadership & Coordination:

  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of production staff and junior operators.
  • Drive achievement of production targets and operational objectives.
  • Collaborate with the breeding team to ensure substrate quality and operational alignment.
  • Support process improvement initiatives within the facility.
  • Ensure proper shift handovers and operational continuity.



Requirements:

  • Minimum of OND in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a production or agro-processing environment such as feed mills, poultry farms, cassava processing plants, or related facilities.
  • Experience operating agro-processing machinery is required.
  • Prior exposure to Black Soldier Fly (BSF) operations is an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems, including motors, belts, gears, and processing machinery.
  • Ability to operate, monitor, and troubleshoot production equipment.
  • Strong record-keeping and basic data management skills.
  • Knowledge of production hygiene and safety standards.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination ability.

  • Problem-solving and proactive thinking capability.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliability and adaptability in a start-up environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in waste recycling, agritech, or bio-manufacturing operations.
  • Basic understanding of biological production systems or farming.
  • Experience working in a start-up or rapidly evolving operational environment.
