Main Functions
- Interpret and Integrate geological data and provide well-site geological support for drilling wells in oil fields.
- This Includes delivering optimized horizontal well bore placement, final well reports, updated horizontal well cross-sections, maps and formation evaluation logs for recent and previously drilled wells.
- Provide geological support for interdisciplinary reservoir study and field development plans. Develop and mentor less experience staff.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Core Wellsite Geological Services:
The primary responsibility of the Wellsite Geologist is the supervision of all wellsite geological personnel and operations, ensuring top-tier quality assurance for all geological data acquisition and reporting:
- Geological Monitoring: Actively monitor and supervise mudlogging, Logging While Drilling LWD, and Wireline WL logging operations.
- Coring Operations: Oversee core handling, processing, and overall monitoring of coring operations.
- Quality & Auditing: Audit geological services when appropriate to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Reporting: Compile and distribute comprehensive Well Completion Reports and daily geological updates.
Coordination of Wellsite Geological Activities:
Serve as the "Operations Geologist" to coordinate, monitor, and administer all company-operated wellsite geotechnical activities:
- Pre-Drill Planning: Participate in the planning phases prior to spudding.
- Vendor Management: Act as the primary point of contact for third-party geological service vendors and review/verify invoices for geological services.
- Data & Communication: Monitor and coordinate data acquisition/analysis, disseminate critical information to stakeholders, and participate in regular teleconferences and meetings.
- Post-Drill Logistics: Coordinate the shipment of core samples, logs, and reports, and complete special ad-hoc projects as required.
Abnormal Pressure Surveillance:
- Ensure all abnormal pressure parameters are meticulously monitored and captured on a pressure evaluation log.
- Review pressure data with the Company Operations Geologist and Drilling Supervisors as required.
- Generate and distribute detailed reports compiling parameters, observations, and interpretations.
