Position Overview – Senior Inventory Officer Reporting to the Warehouse Manager and Warehouse Superintendent, the Senior Inventory Officer will assist in managing inventory operations to ensure adequate stock levels support maintenance and operational activities at Kansanshi Mining Plc.

This full-time role involves overseeing inventory accuracy, optimizing stock levels, and coordinating effectively across warehouses and supply chain teams. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, quality, financial, and human resource policies and regulations.

Manage inventory cataloguing and verification across multiple warehouses in line with annual and monthly plans. Conduct regular stock counts, monitor stock movements, and maintain accurate inventory records using database systems.

Collaborate with procurement and purchasing teams to ensure timely stock replenishment, avoiding shortages or overstocking. Prepare detailed inventory reports, including stock levels, turnover ratios, and aging analyses to support management decisions.

Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements to optimize inventory turnover and reduce waste. Lead, supervise, and mentor inventory staff, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures; act as warehouse superintendent during absences.

Coordinate with logistics, supply chain, and finance departments to align inventory strategies with company goals. Qualifications and Experience Verification of all academic qualifications by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) is required.

Minimum Grade 12 Certificate with grades 4 and above in Mathematics and English. Bachelor of Science Degree in Purchasing & Supply or Full CIPS UK Graduate Professional Diploma.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel. Experience with stock cataloguing and classification systems such as Auslang and NATO Coding & Classifications.

Membership in the Zambia Institute of Purchasing & Supply. At least five years of experience in various supply chain management functions, preferably within the mining sector.

Familiarity with ERP systems such as Pronto is essential. Behavioural Competencies Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively resolve issues with both junior and senior stakeholders.

Ability to interpret basic technical literature and drawings. Excellent interpersonal skills to address stock-related challenges with end-users and suppliers.

Capability to produce ad hoc reports for various internal and external users, including government agencies. Resilience and composure under pressure, managing urgent stock requests that impact maintenance and operations.

Forward-thinking approach when reviewing reorder requirements, considering stockholding impact, safety, lead times, and economic order quantities. Operational Knowledge Comprehensive understanding of warehousing processes such as receiving, issuing, reorder, stock control, stocktaking, and material inspection.

Ability to assess the criticality of materials and assign appropriate priorities to stock demands.
