About the Management Accountant Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the organization’s cost accounting systems, ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and supporting cost-efficient operations. You will be expected to deliver thorough financial analysis, prepare detailed reports, and contribute to strategic decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities for Management Accountant Jobs in Lusaka

• Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, documentation, and records.
• Analyze monthly gross margins and recommend pricing adjustments as needed.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS in financial statement preparation.
• Evaluate changes in goods or services to assess cost impact.
• Perform variance analysis comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Estimate costs for new and proposed products.
• Prepare management reports highlighting factors affecting pricing and profitability.
• Review optimization initiatives to identify cost efficiency opportunities.
• Produce monthly management accounts and production variance reports.
• Lead annual budget preparation and conduct monthly variance analysis.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Process supplier raw material invoices and month-end journal entries.
• Assist with external audits and supervise physical inventories and cycle counts.
• Provide accurate financial analysis to support management decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Full ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA certification.
• Mandatory membership of ZICA.
• 5 to 7 years of management accounting experience, preferably within the manufacturing or FMCG sectors.

Skills and Competencies

• Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and cost systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Proficient report-writing, verbal communication, and IT skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with accounting software, with Sage Evolution considered an advantage.
• All candidates must obtain ZAQA certification from the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
