Role Overview for Machinist Turner Jobs in Kapiri Mposhi The Machinist/Turner will be responsible for manufacturing, repairing, and fitting mechanical components in accordance with engineering drawings. This role also includes maintaining workshop equipment and operating various machines such as CNC lathes, vertical milling machines, and shaping machines to support both training and production activities.
Key Responsibilities Interpret and review engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Operate workshop machinery including lathes, vertical milling machines, grinders, and shaping machines.
Perform machining operations such as turning, milling, drilling, and grinding with precision. Design, set up, and operate CNC machining systems to meet production requirements.
Identify and troubleshoot machine faults, conducting routine maintenance as necessary. Monitor machine performance to ensure safe and optimal operation.
Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 School Certificate with at least five (5) credits. Advanced Certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
Accreditation certificate from TEVETA. Minimum of three (3) years practical experience as a Machinist.
Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and a valid practicing license. Proficiency in reading technical drawings and documentation.
Knowledge of safety standards applicable to workshop and machining environments. Experience with CNC machining and operation.
