Employment Information

Requirements:

  • Relevant Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Tax or related field;
  • Minimum 2 – 3 years’ tax administration experience within an accounting practice;
  • Experience in managing a portfolio of clients;
  • Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation;
  • Must have own, reliable, transport and a valid SA driver’s license;
  • Must be proficient in English and Afrikaans;
  • Must have good communication skills, written and verbal, and pay strong attention to detail;
  • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines;
  • Must have knowledge of tax compliance and SARS e-filing;
  • Must be computer literate, including being proficient in Word and Excel;
  • Greatsoft program knowledge;
  • Liaising with clients (management and otherwise) regarding their day-to-day financial queries;
  • Experience using - Sage, Pastel and QuickBooks (online and desk-top) accounting processing from cashbook to trial balance;
  • Basic Xero package knowledge
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare (including tax calculations) and submit Individual, Company and Trust Income Tax Returns, Dividend Tax Returns and Provisional Tax Returns;
  • VAT calculations and the completion of VAT 201 returns (including pushing SARS payment to the necessary banks). Manage VAT reviews / audits;
  • PAYE calculations (PAYE, UIF and SDL) and the completion of EMP201 returns including IRP5 reconciliations. Manage PAYE reviews / audits, submit UI19’s;
  • Prepare (including calculations) and submit Workmen’s Compensation Fund Returns.
  • Register and de-register clients for the various tax types, UIF at UIF and WCF/RMA;
  • Attend SARS correspondence, queries, reviews and objections;
  • Request tax directives and Tax Clearance Certificates;
  • Adhere to deadlines to ensure timely submissions;
  • Attend SARS appointments regarding outstanding matters
  • Assist clients with tax related queries;
  • Certain administrative duties (answering of phone and reception).
  • Liaising with J&M management and co-workers
  • Stay up to date with South African tax legislation changes.
