About the Internal Audit Associate Role The Internal Audit Associate will play a critical role in supporting MEL’s internal controls and risk management processes.
This full-time position involves conducting thorough audits across various operational areas including mining, power plant operations, procurement, stores, finance, and support functions. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of MEL’s financial and operational systems.
Key Responsibilities for Internal Audit Associate Jobs in Maamba Assist in planning and executing internal audit assignments across diverse departments. Perform detailed audit testing of operational, financial, and compliance controls.
Conduct physical stock counts, fixed asset verifications, and cash counts as required. Evaluate controls related to procurement, contractor management, inventory, and plant maintenance.
Prepare comprehensive audit working papers and reports adhering to internal audit methodologies. Identify control weaknesses, inefficiencies, and instances of non-compliance.
Support risk assessments and propose practical recommendations for improvement. Qualifications and Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Internal Audit, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Progress towards professional certifications such as CIA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent is advantageous. 1 to 2 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, accounting, risk management, compliance, or a similar field.
Experience within mining, energy, manufacturing, or heavy industry sectors is a plus. Skills and Competencies Strong understanding of internal control frameworks and risk-based auditing principles.
Solid knowledge of financial processes and accounting standards. Familiarity with procurement and inventory management procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and basic data analysis tools. Excellent analytical and investigative abilities.
High ethical standards and integrity. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness and ability to travel to operational sites within Maamba Energy facilities.
