About the Role – Industrial Hygienist Jobs in Kalumbila Reporting directly to the Environmental Coordinator - LEP, the Industrial Hygienist will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and controlling workplace health hazards to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.
You will play a key role in promoting a zero-harm culture by delivering practical and effective occupational hygiene solutions.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Developing Similar Exposure Groups (SEGs) and designing comprehensive sampling plans.
- Conducting monitoring for noise, dust, illumination, radiation, vibration, VOCs, and other occupational exposures.
- Identifying health hazards and recommending engineering, administrative, and personal protective controls.
- Raising employee awareness on occupational health and safety through training and presentations.
- Implementing corrective actions, including suspending operations if necessary.
- Collaborating with management to resolve occupational health challenges effectively.
- Designing and conducting studies to evaluate employee exposure and program effectiveness.
- Leading initiatives to protect employee health and applying ergonomic principles.
- Advising on workers’ compensation claims related to workplace exposures.
- Conducting food safety and hygiene audits as required.
- Administering personal exposure assessment programs for chemical and physical stressors.
- Preparing detailed reports on hazardous substances and audit findings to support management decisions.
- Delivering ongoing training on occupational hazards such as noise, vibration, dust, and hazardous communication.
Candidate Requirements To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Grade 12 certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Hygiene, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a related field from a reputable institution.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in industrial hygiene, occupational exposure assessment, and environmental management.
- Proven experience implementing and maintaining Environmental Management Systems (EMS) aligned with ISO 14001:2015.
- ISO 14001:2015 Internal Auditor Certification.
- Strong knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, occupational safety regulations, and hazard control methods.
- Proficiency in using monitoring and sampling equipment such as air quality monitors, noise dosimeters, sound level meters, vibration monitors, and VOC analyzers.
- Ability to analyze occupational hygiene data and interpret results accurately to guide decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Membership in a relevant professional body.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Valid manual driver’s license.
