The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all housekeeping activities within the hospital to ensure a clean, safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The role involves supervising housekeeping personnel, monitoring compliance with infection prevention and control standards, ensuring efficient use of cleaning resources, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the facility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operational Duties:
- Supervise and coordinate daily housekeeping operations across all assigned hospital areas.
- Ensure patient rooms, operating theaters, laboratories, offices, restrooms, corridors, and public areas are cleaned and disinfected according to hospital standards and infection prevention protocols.
- Conduct regular inspections of assigned areas to verify cleanliness, hygiene, and compliance with established procedures.
- Monitor proper waste collection, segregation, and disposal practices, including general and medical waste management.
- Ensure adequate stock levels of cleaning supplies, chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Train and guide housekeeping staff on cleaning techniques, safety procedures, infection prevention measures, and proper use of equipment.
- Ensure housekeeping staff adhere to established schedules and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Investigate and address cleanliness-related complaints and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Report maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, and safety concerns to the relevant department for prompt resolution.
- Administrative Duties:
- Prepare and manage housekeeping staff schedules, assignments, and attendance records.
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback.
- Maintain housekeeping records, inspection reports, inventory logs, and incident reports.
- Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of new housekeeping staff.
- Monitor and control housekeeping supply usage to minimize waste and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare periodic reports on housekeeping activities and departmental performance.
- Other Duties as Required:
- Participate in hospital quality improvement, infection prevention, and safety initiatives.
- Assist during hospital inspections, audits, and accreditation activities.
- Coordinate housekeeping support for special events, emergency situations, and other operational requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager or Facility Manager.
