Requirements

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Community Psychology, and/or Social Work or related field required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience working with GBV Survivors, preferably in refugee settings.
  • Direct counseling experience with GBV Survivors preferable.
  • Knowledge of SASA! and EMAP methodology essential.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive interviews and provide accurate assessments is essential.
  • Experience promoting community-level behavior change targeting prevention of SGBV. essential, particularly experience based on activation of community-level structures, refugee leadership bodies, etc.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports for both internal and external use is essential.

Program Implementation and reporting

  • Under the supervision of the  Senior Protection Officer, the GBV Officer will support in the identification of GBV gaps and vulnerabilities with a view to generating ideas for future projects with strong impact for the beneficiaries.
  • Overall, responsible for planning and implementation of GBV prevention and response activities in line with the organization’s strategy and program documents and in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Support the protection assessment in particular in the GBV field and ongoing risks analysis in order to design adequate responses and contribute to the development of advocacy points based on assessment of situation.

Coordination and representation

  • Representation of IRC in the sector-based and Zonal coordination meetings and other activities at the coordination levels.
  • Ensure close co-ordination in project implementation with partners (UN agencies and national/international NGOs), including referrals, protection gap analysis, advocacy at the field level in close cooperation with the  Senior Protection Officer.
  • Actively liaise with other IRC sectors and ensure the integration of the GBV intervention in all the activities.

Staff development and management

  • Provide technical and programmatic leadership for the GBV case workers and GBV community-based mechanisms in operational area as needed.
  • Provide technical leadership to the GBV case workers in the case management work. Ensure all cases are up to date (filling system and Primero/ GBVIMS) and progress well and in line with IRC standard tools.
  • Develop staff performance measurement and targets and appraise them based on the set targets.
  • Conduct daily field visits to support GBV response and prevention assistant – mentoring – through technical back stopping and to train duty bearers.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Contribute to the daily quality implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects and interventions.
  • Identify, document and disseminate relevant project success, challenges and follow up on implementation of project’s action points
  • Assist in participatory needs/vulnerability and capacity assessments of affected communities
