Our client, a leading player in the energy sector, is seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and commercially minded Financial Analyst to join its growing team in South Sudan. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing financial performance, developing financial models, preparing forecasts and budgets, evaluating investment opportunities, and providing actionable insights that support business growth and operational efficiency. The role requires a professional who can transform complex financial data into meaningful recommendations that drive strategic and operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models to support strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and investment decisions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts and variance analyses.
- Monitor company performance against budgets and financial targets, identifying key trends and recommending corrective actions.
- Support the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning initiatives.
- Analyze revenue streams, operating costs, capital expenditures, and profitability across business units and projects.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare detailed financial reports, dashboards, and management presentations for senior leadership.
- Analyze financial statements and key performance indicators to assess business performance.
- Produce monthly management reports highlighting financial performance, risks, opportunities, and recommendations.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial data used in reporting and analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of board reports, investor presentations, and stakeholder communications.
Investment & Project Analysis
- Conduct financial evaluations of energy projects, infrastructure developments, and capital investment opportunities.
- Perform feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, discounted cash flow (DCF) analyses, and financial risk assessments.
- Assess project profitability, return on investment (ROI), net present value (NPV), and internal rate of return (IRR).
- Support business cases for new investments, acquisitions, partnerships, and expansion initiatives.
- Monitor financial performance of ongoing projects against approved budgets and forecasts.
Business Performance Monitoring
- Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Develop performance metrics and KPIs that support business objectives.
- Work closely with operational teams to understand business drivers and improve financial performance.
- Evaluate cost structures and recommend efficiency improvements to optimize profitability.
- Support management in implementing performance improvement initiatives.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify financial risks and contribute to risk mitigation strategies.
- Support compliance with internal controls, corporate governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in developing financial policies, procedures, and reporting frameworks.
- Participate in internal and external audit processes by providing relevant financial analysis and documentation.
Market & Industry Analysis
- Monitor developments within the energy sector, including market trends, regulatory changes, and economic conditions.
- Conduct competitor and industry benchmarking analyses.
- Provide insights on market dynamics that may impact business performance and investment decisions.
- Support strategic planning through market intelligence and financial research.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with finance, operations, engineering, procurement, and project management teams to support business objectives.
- Present financial findings and recommendations to management and key stakeholders.
- Support investor relations activities and financing initiatives where required.

Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related field.
- Master's Degree in Finance, Business Administration (MBA), Economics, or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
Professional Certifications
Candidates holding any of the following professional qualifications will have a distinct advantage:
- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
- Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA)
- Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
- CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, corporate finance, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), investment analysis, or a related role.
- Experience within the energy, utilities, infrastructure, oil and gas, renewable energy, or large-scale industrial sectors is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and investment appraisal.
- Experience working with complex financial data and preparing executive-level reports.
