Position Overview Reporting to the Exports Supervisor, the Export Officer will coordinate all aspects of cargo and mail acceptance, documentation, handling, storage, and dispatch. You will ensure that all consignments comply with airline, regulatory, customer, and company requirements, adhering strictly to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Key Responsibilities of Export Officer Jobs in Lusaka Calculate freight and handling charges, collect payments, prepare air waybills, and file documentation for manifesting. Ensure all cargo is properly documented, labeled, and prepared for shipment in line with airline and regulatory standards.
Prepare outgoing and incoming cargo manifests and Notification to Captain (NOTOC) for dangerous and special cargo. Maintain accurate filing of cargo receipts, dockets, manifests, air waybills, and other documentation.
Supervise cargo and mail loading to guarantee safety, security, and operational efficiency. Handle special cargo types such as Valuable Cargo (VAL), Vulnerable Cargo (VUN), and Dangerous Goods (DG), including coordinating specialized security and transport.
Perform daily equipment checks, report defects, and ensure scale accuracy using calibrated weights. Liaise with Load Control and other departments to optimize cargo bookings, space utilization, and load planning.
Respond promptly to cargo-related customer inquiries and coordinate with airline representatives, customs, and security agencies. Support on-time flight departures by executing cargo tasks within operational timelines and contribute to process improvements.
Qualifications and Experience Required Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent qualification. Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Aviation Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related fields.
Minimum of two years’ experience in cargo operations, freight forwarding, logistics, warehousing, or aviation ground handling. Knowledge of air cargo operations, documentation, and airline handling procedures.
Familiarity with IATA Cargo Handling Procedures and IATA TACT Rules is an advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cargo management systems.
