Job Description

  • Prepare special meals and substitutes. Adjust oven, broiler, grill, and roaster temperatures.
  • Remove food from the freezer and thaw it in the refrigerator.
  • Portion and plate food appropriately.
  • Maintain food records.
  • Monitor the quality and quantity of cooked food.
  • Communicate necessary support during peak seasons.
  • Inform chefs of any leftover ingredients for use in daily specials. Inform food service staff of special menus and any out-of-stock items.
  • Ensure the quality of ingredients.
  • Cook according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and cooking checklists.
  • Prepare cold food.
  • Assist and serve as a role model for management in employee recruitment, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, disciplinary action, motivation, and coaching.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures. Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and hazardous work situations to your manager.
  • Ensure your uniform and appearance are clean and professional. Anticipate and respond to guests' service needs and communicate with others in a clear and professional manner.
  • Listen to and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees and ensure that expected quality and standards are maintained.
  • Stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, pull, squat, and reach above your head or below your knees for extended periods.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and position objects weighing 25 pounds or less without assistance.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as requested by your supervisor.
  • You may also be required to perform other reasonable duties as requested by your supervisor.

Desirable qualifications

  • Educational background: A degree from a technical, trade, or vocational school.
  • Related work experience: At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Coaching experience: No coaching experience.
  • License or certification: None.
