Our client is looking for a Credit Control Accountant to take ownership of credit control management while supporting key accounting, reporting, and compliance functions within a dynamic finance team.
This role is responsible for managing the full credit control function alongside general accounting activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in mitigating credit risk, overseeing credit insurance and control processes, ensuring accurate month-end reporting, and maintaining strong financial controls across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the credit control function, including collections, debtor management and reducing overdue accounts
- Assess and monitor customer credit risk and maintain appropriate credit limits and controls
- Oversee credit insurance processes and ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures
- Perform month-end close activities, including journal processing and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Ensure compliance with internal control frameworks as well as internal and external audit requirements
- Prepare management reports, collection forecasts and assist with budget preparation
- Provide support across interbranch, functional and cross-border subsidiary finance activities
- Review, update and improve finance process flows, ensuring adequate segregation of duties and strong internal controls
- Maintain and review customer master data structures to support accurate reporting and efficient credit management
- Liaise with customers and banks regarding foreign payment activity and account-related queries
- Work closely with internal stakeholders across finance, operations and commercial teams to ensure smooth financial processes and effective collections
Job Experience and Skills Required:- Accounting Diploma/Degree
- Proven experience in credit control and accounting
- Strong understanding of credit risk management, reconciliations, reporting and internal controls
- Strong Excel and ERP/system skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving ability and a proactive approach
