Cost Analyst

Our client is a respected player within the steel manufacturing sector, supplying high-quality products to a broad customer base across South Africa. They are seeking a Cost Analyst to take ownership of product costing, inventory analysis, margin reporting, and operational cost control across the manufacturing environment.

Working closely with Finance, Production, Procurement, and Operations, the successful candidate will provide critical insights that drive efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain standard costing models
• Perform ABC costing analysis and cost allocation reviews
• Analyse BOMs, WIP, inventory, and manufacturing variances
• Monitor production costs and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Review material, labour, and overhead absorption rates
• Conduct profitability and margin analysis across product lines
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost planning
• Support stock counts and inventory reconciliations
• Prepare monthly costing and management reports
• Partner with operational teams to improve cost visibility and controls

• BCom Accounting, Finance, Cost & Management Accounting or similar
• CIMA qualification in progress advantageous
• 3-5 years' costing experience within manufacturing, engineering, steel, or heavy industry
• Strong understanding of Standard Costing and ABC Costing methodologies
• Experience working with BOMs, WIP, inventory, and variance analysis
• Advanced Excel skills
• ERP system experience essential
• Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
