A high-performing business in the mining and industrial sector is looking for a Cost Accountant who can keep a close eye on the numbers behind the machines, the materials, and the margins.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain costing models, standard costs, and cost allocations across mining-related operations
- Analyse production, operational, and overhead variances and provide meaningful insights to management
- Manage inventory accounting, stock reconciliations, and valuation of raw materials, spares, and finished goods
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives across operations
- Monitor WIP, equipment-related costs, consumables, and project cost tracking
- Prepare and review management reports, margin analysis, and operational cost reports
- Partner with site, production, and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiencies
- Assist with month-end close, reporting packs, and financial analysis for decision-making
- Ensure costing accuracy across high-volume, stock-driven, and operationally intensive processes
Job Experience and Skills Required:
Education:- BCom Accounting OR Cost & Management Accounting
- CIMA qualification
Experience:- 2–5 years’ experience in a Cost Accountant / Management Accountant role
- Experience within the mining, mining equipment, engineering, manufacturing, or heavy industrial sector is essential
Skills:- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- ERP systems experience
- Strong costing, stock, and reporting capabilities
