About the Role:

Mechanical Aggregate Crusher Coordinator Jobs in Kalumbila Reporting directly to the Superintendent Aggregate Crusher, the Coordinator Mechanical is responsible for overseeing all mechanical equipment activities related to crushing operations, including primary and secondary crushers, screens, and conveyors.

As the equipment owner, you will ensure the reliable performance of production equipment by implementing operating procedures, maintenance schedules, and cost-effective strategies that maximize production and operational sustainability.

This full-time position emphasizes rigorous daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance planning to achieve and surpass key performance indicators, particularly crusher availability. Key Responsibilities Direct and coordinate maintenance and operational activities for crushing and conveying equipment to optimize plant utilization.

Ensure compliance with Zambian Mining Regulations and site Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (SHEC) standards. Investigate equipment-related safety and environmental incidents and implement corrective actions.

Monitor and report equipment status, performance metrics, and operational shortfalls to drive continuous improvement. Issue daily mechanical instructions to shift teams, ensuring clear communication of tasks and operational priorities.

Attend shift handover meetings to assess plant status and support supervisors in maintaining compliance and operational excellence. Develop and approve weekly maintenance plans in collaboration with planners and supervisors.

Coach and mentor maintenance supervisors and field personnel to uphold high operational standards. Identify and prioritize capital improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.

Manage work plans for cleaning contractors and mobile equipment, coordinating access and resources as needed. Uphold the “Smarter, Bolder, Driven” culture embedded within First Quantum Minerals.

Qualifications and Experience Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering. Eligibility for membership of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) and legal appointment under Zambian Mining Regulations.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in crusher plant maintenance, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity. Proven experience in large, complex base metals processing plants, preferably with Jaw crushers, cone crushers, and screens.

Certification of qualifications by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA). Candidate Profile and Skills Strong commitment to SHEC performance and a personal sense of equipment ownership.

Excellent coordination and leadership skills with the ability to assign tasks and foster collaboration across multiple disciplines. Analytical skills to diagnose plant defects, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventative measures.

Ability to manage short- and long-term maintenance strategies to ensure equipment reliability and production efficiency. Effective verbal and written communication skills, capable of producing clear performance reports and issuing operational instructions.

Proactive, diligent, and persistent approach with enthusiasm for continuous improvement. Ability to thrive in a multicultural environment and fluency in English.
