Reporting to the Senior Accountant – Contracts, the Contracts Accountant will ensure accurate and timely commercial administration, accounting and settlement of LMC’s metals sales and off-take contracts, while providing commercial performance analysis and decision support.
Your duties & Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: –
- Execute accounting, invoicing and settlement activities for metals sales, off-take and haulage contracts
- Reconcile invoices, dispatch schedules, weighbridge records, assays, moisture, quantities and delivery documentation.
- Validate pricing, payable metals, TC/RCs, penalties, deductions and other contractual inputs for provisional and final invoicing.
- Support assay exchanges, umpire processes, settlement reconciliations and customer payment tracking, including Dispatch-to-Cash analysis.
- Conduct periodic performance analysis of all active off-take contracts, including realised pricing, payable metals, TC/RCs, penalties, freight, assay and settlement adjustments; identify risks, value leakage and improvement opportunities.
- Develop contract performance models, dashboards and variance analysis against budget, forecast and contractual expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to extract, reconcile, analyse and interpret data from multiple systems and sources and translate the results into actionable commercial insights
- Analyse transporter performance and contractual escalations.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, market analysis and scenario modelling relating to prices, volumes, customer mix and contract terms.
- Prepare periodic management reports and executive presentations for the Metals Sales Superintendent and senior leadership, clearly communicating performance, risks, opportunities and recommended actions.
- Identify opportunities to improve commercial processes, controls, data integrity and value recovery.
To be considered for the position, the applicant must have the following:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Accounting degree or Professional Qualification such as CIMA/ ACCA.
- Masters degree will be added advantage.
- Minimum three (3) years in Accounts Management of concentrate sales and transport contracts or similar position.
- Exposure to local and international bulk transport and shipping activities and related documentation will be advantageous.
- Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
- Minimum of an unrestricted Class B driver’s license
