The Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for the management, maintenance, calibration, and repair of all medical equipment within the hospital. This critical role ensures the safety, accuracy, and optimal performance of medical devices, directly supporting patient care and clinical operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clinical Duties:
- Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair a wide range of medical equipment, including diagnostic devices (e.g., ECG machines, ultrasound, monitors), therapeutic devices (e.g., ventilators, infusion pumps), and surgical instruments.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance and safety checks on all medical equipment.
- Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions and perform troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of all medical equipment, spare parts, and service histories.
- Train clinical staff on the safe and proper operation of medical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with national and international medical device standards and regulations.
- Evaluate new medical technologies and provide recommendations for procurement.
- Administrative Duties:
- Develop and implement medical equipment management plans and maintenance schedules.
- Liaise with equipment manufacturers and service providers for specialized repairs or warranty claims.
- Prepare reports on equipment performance, breakdowns, and maintenance costs.
- Educational Duties:
- Provide in-service training to clinical staff on the safe operation and basic troubleshooting of medical devices.
- Stay updated with advancements in medical technology and biomedical engineering best practices.
