Key Responsibilities for the Aircon Technician Role Reporting directly to the Shift Supervisor, your core duties will include:

• Inspecting, servicing, and repairing air-conditioning units on heavy and light mobile equipment such as light vehicles, trucks, cranes, telehandlers, and TLBs.
• Diagnosing faults and performing corrective maintenance to restore equipment functionality efficiently.
• Executing preventative maintenance to minimize breakdowns and prolong equipment lifespan.
• Ensuring compliance with refrigeration handling protocols, environmental regulations, and mine safety standards.
• Maintaining accurate records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including work orders and refrigeration gas usage logs.
• Supporting maintenance teams during equipment breakdowns and responding promptly to urgent air-conditioning issues.
• Installing, replacing, and commissioning air-conditioning units and components as necessary.
• Identifying recurring faults and recommending system improvements to enhance reliability.
• Adhering strictly to safe working practices, participating in risk assessments, and following permit-to-work procedures.

Qualifications and Experience Required for Aircon Technician Jobs in Kalumbila To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Full Grade Twelve School Certificate.
• Minimum Craft Certificate in Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning or an equivalent qualification.
• Valid permit to handle refrigerant gases is an advantage.
• At least two years of experience working on heavy mobile equipment (HME) and light mobile equipment within mining or similar environments.
• Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, and technical repair skills.
• Familiarity with CMMS platforms such as SAP or Pronto is beneficial.
• Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
• Membership in the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
• Possession of a valid Zambian driver’s license is an added advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
