Purpose of the Job
Administrative Assistant: Dental must provide administrative and claims-related assistance within the dental managed care team. The successful incumbent must also assist with capturing claims on the system and assign them for approval. He/ she must ensure compliance with Fund rules and clinical protocols within the medical aid environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the dental team with clinical data capturing and related administration.
- Verifying member benefits and Medical Fund eligibility
- Verify dental procedure codes, treatment plans, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate member and provider records on internal systems.
- Ensure compliance with medical aid policies, clinical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with dental nurses regarding treatment motivations, missing information, and claim queries.
- Follow up on outstanding documentation and ensure timely resolution of cases.
- Escalate complex clinical or benefit-related matters to the relevant dental team members.
- Adhere to relevant healthcare legislation, confidentiality, and Medical Fund regulations.
- Support audits and quality assurance initiatives within the department.
- Ensure accurate record keeping and confidentiality of member information.
- Assisting with monitoring application turnaround times and workflow management
- Assist with reporting and administrative functions within the dental managed care department when necessary.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform any other duties related to the role as reasonably required.
- Maintain confidentiality of all member and clinical information in accordance with company policies and applicable data protection regulations.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required
- Grade 12 (Senior Secondary Certificate)
- Experience within a medical aid, managed healthcare, or dental managed care environment will be advantageous
