Job Details

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process daily accounting transactions in Sage Accounting.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and timeously.
  • Prepare and submit PAYE, UIF, and SDL returns.
  • Assist with provisional tax and corporate income tax compliance.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
  • Ensure compliance with South African accounting standards and tax legislation.
  • Liaise with SARS, auditors, banks, and external service providers when required.
  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and controls.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Perform additional finance and accounting duties as required by the business.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications
  • Matric / Grade 12.
  • A 3-year Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience
  • 3 to 5 years' proven accounting experience in a similar role.
  • Experience within a similar industry will be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles, accounting practices, and regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Practical experience with Sage Accounting is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with SARS e-Filing and tax submissions is essential.
Proven working knowledge of:
  • VAT
  • PAYE
  • UIF
  • SDL
  • Corporate Income Tax
  • Skills & Competencies
  • Sound understanding of South African accounting principles and tax legislation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Ethical, dependable, and professional work ethic.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
